West Fire Systems, a Division of Sciens Building Solutions, has utilized Space Age Electronics on
many complex projects over the past 20+ years of partnership. Many of those projects for a
prominent end-user university campus in upstate New York spanning a large geographic area.
These kinds of projects pose unique challenges which require specific code compliant and
functionally sophisticated solutions that result in the ability to apply across the campus for system
standardization.
Each building on campus is architecturally unique to itself in design and complex in nature integrating multiple building systems together to achieve required life safety functions such as Smoke Control events which include Stairwell Pressurization, Atrium Smoke Exhaust and Post Fire Smoke Removal to name a few. To make these systems work as intended, the buildings Fire Alarm, Mechanical, Building Automation, Electrical Systems and in some cases even motorized architectural features must all communicate to operate as one integrated system.
Space Age Electronics have been designing and manufacturing complimentary solutions to fire alarm and life safety systems for our system integration partners for 60+ years which makes Space Age an ideal partner to companies with such large-scale end user relationships to consider when designing, installing, and maintaining these systems.
Beyond the design and manufacturing of the Smoke Control System control panels, or Firefighters Smoke Control Stations, Space Age has also stepped in to assist West Fire with special integration enclosures which house the necessary system components to achieve the communication between the included building systems. From the individual cabinet design layouts to prefabricating the system modules with interconnected wiring into each enclosure for a field ready solution West Fire utilizes BAS interface, Fire Smoke Damper & Fan integration as well as Elevator Recall enclosures to ensure a
standardized system architecture that can be installed from building to building regardless of the variable of different installation contractors.
Space Age Electronics’ design and engineering support has always been a key element in the relationship with West Fire Systems allowing for personalized, WFS branded solutions to include Fire Alarm Terminal Cabinets for system circuity, remote LED Annunciators, Battery Backup Cabinetry, prefabricated Elevator Recall & Shunt Trip Cabinets, code required System Record Document Boxes and As-Built Drawing Storage Cabinets.
Many of these accessory solutions started as optional equipment the University would use that they now consider as a minimum standard and expect to see on every project. Since the University employs their own testing crews and technicians, they see the value these accessory products bring not only to the quality of the finished product, but the time savings standardizing on these products has brought to the table.
