A Human Connection to OEM Manufacturing Partnerships
At Space Age Electronics, we’ve always believed that great OEM manufacturing partnerships start with people. Moreover, behind every successful project are conversations, collaboration, and a shared drive to build something better together.
That’s why we’re excited to welcome Mia [MY-ah] Smith, our newest Business Development Manager, to the team. Mia leads our OEM initiatives across the U.S., helping partners bring complex ideas to life through precision-engineered solutions.
Mia’s approach is grounded in understanding. She knows that every OEM faces unique integration challenges. Correspondingly, her role is to help bridge those gaps and align our specialized manufacturing capabilities with your specific goals. For Mia, success is about engineering the right outcome for you.
An Engineer Who Understands OEMs
Mia brings both technical depth and real-world experience to her new role. She joins Space Age Electronics after seven years with Johnson Controls, where she served as a Channel Account Manager (OEM Solutions — North America). Mia earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, giving her a technical foundation that few business development professionals can match.
What makes Mia different is her ability to act as a technical translator — in other words, someone who connects the precision of engineering with the practical needs of OEM project teams. She understands what it takes to move from concept to completion, ensuring that communication stays clear, solutions stay aligned, and expectations stay met.
Mia’s engineering mindset helps her approach every conversation with curiosity and structure. She doesn’t just listen to what OEMs need, she understands why they need it and how to make it happen efficiently and effectively.
Building Stronger OEM Manufacturing Partnerships
OEM projects rarely come with a single, straightforward problem. Rather, they’re layered with design considerations, compliance requirements, and integration demands that evolve throughout development. Mia helps OEMs navigate those layers by connecting them directly to SAE’s in-house capabilities — including custom PCB design, metal fabrication, and integration-ready assemblies.
More than just building to order, at Space Age Electronics we design to your specification. That means every component, every enclosure, and every assembly we produce is intentionally crafted to meet your exact needs.
Mia works hand-in-hand with our engineering and production teams to help OEMs:
- Streamline design-to-production processes.
- Simplify integration between electrical and mechanical systems.
- Improve scalability for large or specialized builds.
By combining technical expertise with collaboration, Mia helps OEMs find clarity where complexity exists. Consequently, she ensures your systems not only perform but perform exactly the way they should.
Designing for the Future, Together
OEM manufacturing partnerships thrive on trust. Therefore, trust grows when partners share a common vision. Generally one that values precision, reliability, and innovation in equal measure.
At Space Age Electronics, we’ve built our reputation on that philosophy. Particularly, we believe the best results come when engineers, manufacturers, and project teams work side by side from the start. Mia’s role is to make that collaboration seamless while ensuring that every conversation leads to smarter solutions and stronger relationships.
As she takes on her new role, Mia undoubtedly embodies the spirit of SAE’s mission to engineer confidence for every partner we serve. Her focus is simple: help OEMs build faster, integrate smarter, and stay ahead of what’s next.
If you’re ready to explore what a true OEM manufacturing partnership looks like, connect with Mia Smith to start the conversation.
Every project starts with an idea. But turning that idea into something real — something that performs, integrates, and lasts — takes partnership. At Space Age Electronics, that’s where Mia and our team come in. Together, we’re not just building solutions. We’re building for the future.
